Bermuda has taken a temporary of the women’s points standing of the CAC Games qualifiers currently on the way at the JN Mona hockey Field after brushing aside Panama ladies four nil. Bermuda ripped Panama’s defence apart in the first quarter putting four past goalkeeper Daryeli Castro.
Maya Palacio opened the scoring in the 8th minute, Renee Greenslade doubled Bermuda’s lead in the 11th minute. Goals by Jasmine Patterson 13th and Azari Thomas gave the Bermudans a 4 nil first quarter lead.
The Panamanians as they did against Jamaica went into a firm defensive mode and frustrated the Bermuda’s players and their coaching staff as they failed to add to their first quarter lead.
Bermuda got a glorious opportunity to extend their lead in the third quarter when umpire Stephanie awarded a penalty stroke however panama’s goalkeeper Daryeli Castro produced a fantastic reflex save to keep the score at 4 nil.
The winless Panama team will next face Guatemala in tomorrow’s 8:30 fixture, while Bermuda will tackle Guyana.
The Bermudans will be paying keen attention to the Jamaica versus Guyana game coming up @ 12:30 that will determine where in the standings they will end the day in.
