Guyana registered a 4-1 win over Puerto Rico in the opening game of the CAC Games qualifier hosted in Kingston Jamaica at the JN Hockey Field. After what was a very tame first half, Mark Sargeant opened the scoring in the 31stminute to put the Guyanese 1 nil up. Meshach Sargeant quickly doubled the scoring in 35thminute.
Ottus Feliciano pulled a goal back for the Puerto Ricans in the 38th to make it 2-1. A brilliant solo goal by Captain Robert France restored the Guyanese two goal lead.
Aroydy Branford finished off the scoring in the 57th minute to hand the Guyanese a comfortable victory.
