Jamaica gained a psychological advantage over Guyana heading into Sunday’s gold medal match beating the Guyanese 3-2 in the final preliminary round of the men’s CAC games Qualifiers.
In what was an action packed encounter both teams traded several entertaining attacking plays that had the crowd on their feet and hoping they will be treated to the same level of entertainment in tomorrow’s final.
George McGlashen opened the scoring for the Jamaicans in the 4th minute before Kemar Gobern doubled their lead in the 41st minute with his first international goal.
Guyana staged comeback as Jamarj Assanah scored in the 48th minute before the tournaments leading goal scorer Aroydy Branford got the equaliser in the 49th minute.
Duvaughn Henlon got the winner in the 51st from a penalty corner
The two will meet again @ 5 pm in tomorrow’s final at the JN Hockey Field, Mona Road.
