Jamaica vs Guyana – Women’s CAC Games Qualifier

Jamaica and Guyana played out an entertaining goalless draw in day three action of the CAC Games qualifiers at the JN Hockey Field. Jamaica started out on the front and should have taken the lead in the first quarter after they were awarded a penalty stroke which goalkeeper Briawna Gordon saved off the stick of Demi Nicholson.

The Jamaican’s continued their flurry of attacking plays but could not find that decisive shot as goalkeeper Briawna Gordon was called up on to make frequent saves to eventually earn the Guyanese a share of the points.

The Guyanese were not to be outdone as they had their fair share of attacking plays but they too could not find the telling pass to breakdown the Jamaican defence as goalkeeper Lorie-Ann McIntosh is yet to be tested the tournament.

Guyana had Jamaica pinned in their circle in the third quarter through four consecutive penalty corners that was calmly dealt by the Jamaican defenders.

Jamaica remains a top the point’s standings on seven points but only on a plus one goal difference ahead of Bermuda.

Both teams will be in action tomorrow, Bermuda will play Guyana in crucial clash at 10:30 and Jamaica play Puerto Rico at 12:30.
