Panama vs Jamaica – Women’s CAC Games Qualifier

Jamaica’s Irie Girl’s continue to set the pace in the CAC Games qualifiers easily brushing aside the Panama ladies 3 nil to maintain their lead in the standings. The result was not a true reflection of Jamaica’s domination as they dictated the tempo game from the sound of the whistle left umpire Erin De Sousa’s lips.

Two goals in quick succession from Kamille Griffiths in 11th and 12th minute sent Jamaica two nil up and sent the home crowd wild.

Panama’s goalkeeper Daryeli Castro and her defence line were called on to make several saves and clearance as Griffiths and her teammates attacked the Panamanian circle fiercely.

Despite their dominance the irie Girl’s had no further success in the first half as it ended two nil credit to some fearless defending from Panama

Team Jamaica maintained the intensity in the second half and was duly rewarded in the 38th minute when Ebony McLean converted from a penalty with fiercely driven shot down the middle leaving goalkeeper Daryeli Castro stranded.

The Panamanians never looked likely to score but they will be taking some positives away from this game having conceded only three goals against a free flowing Jamaican team.

Kamille Griffiths leads the goal scoring charts with three goals ahead of Guyana’s Kerensa Fernandes on two goals. The winless Panama will now turn their attention to second place Bermuda on Wednesday @ 8:30.

While the Jamaicans will be looking to strengthen their chances of making the final when go up against Guyana in a top of the table clash also on Wednesday @ 12:30.
