Puerto Rico vs Jamaica – Women’s CAC Games Qualifier

Shana-Kay Tullongue and Demi Nicholson have put Jamaica’s Irie Girlz within a point of booking their ticket to the CAC Games in Barranquilla Colombia. The Irie Girls registered a hard fought 2 nil win over a strong Puerto Rican unit.

Puerto Rico frustrated the Jamaicans for the first three quarters of the game forcing the Jamaicans into some hurried plays and bad decision making.

Even though Jamaica seized the early initiative in the game their continued failure with penalty corners was again evident.

Puerto Rico had some occasional attacks that were handled by the Jamaica by the Jamaican defence led by Captain Sauwana Gordon.

Jamaica gradually gained control of the fourth quarter and were duly rewarded in the 50th minute when Shana-Kay Tullongue riffled home a pass from Ebony McLean into the far corner of the goal.

Demi Nicholson wrapped up the win two minutes later in the 52nd minute to put Jamaica within touching distance of Sunday’s final.

Jamaica will next play Bermuda on Saturday, while Puerto Rico will play the winless Panamanians.
